DEFINITION OF POSTGRADUATE AND DOCTORAL STUDIES

Postgraduate and doctoral studies are forms of training for academic and research personnel of the highest qualification.

Postgraduate studies are a system of organisational, educational and scientific support for the training of candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education in a higher education institution/scientific establishment, aimed at mastering an educational and scientific programme.

The duration of the PhD programme is 4 years.

Doctoral studies are a system of organisational and scientific support for the training of candidates for the degree of Doctor of Science, aimed at completing doctoral dissertations.

The duration of the Doctoral programme is 2 years.

Upon completion of the educational and scientific programme and successful public defence of the dissertation, postgraduates (or doctoral students) are awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy (or Doctor of Sciences) in one of the scientific specialties.
