Special Department № 4

Special Department № 4 is a core academic unit of the Institute of Special Communications and Information Protection of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. The Department conducts educational activities jointly with other special departments of the Institute in training specialists at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral (PhD) degree levels.

The department employs highly qualified professionals, including 1 Doctor of Science and 5 PhDs.

The main research areas of the department include:

  • Competency-based approach in training specialists of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine in the context of globalisation and informatisation
  • Socio-philosophical and legal issues of sustainable development and security of society
  • Methodology of scientific and pedagogical activities
  • Fundamental aspects of metrology
  • Reliability assurance in information and communication technology systems
  • Technical support for modern special communication facilities and their power supply sources

One of the new research areas of Special Department № 4 is the study of socio-philosophical problems of cyber education, including political visions of cyber education, sustainable development of formal and non-formal cyber education systems.

To summarize the existing theoretical and practical experience in training specialists of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, Special Department № 4 conducts the research project (R&D) “Theoretical and Practical Aspects of Leadership Development in the Training System for Cadets of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine” (Project Code: “Leadership”).

Special Department № 4 maintains a modern material and technical base, which allows the educational process to be organised at a high level, providing higher education students with fundamental knowledge in academic disciplines and practical skills in applying diagnostic and measurement technologies.
