Research and Development Center
The Research and Development Center is a structural unit of the Institute of Special Communications and Information Protection of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (hereinafter – the Institute), which conducts research in areas relevant to the Institute’s activities and is directly subordinated to the Deputy Head of Institute for Scientific Affairs.
Research and Development Center is intended to:
- conduct fundamental, exploratory and applied research in the field of cybersecurity and technical information protection within interagency communication systems;
- organise the scientific and technical activities of the Institute;
- facilitate the training of highly qualified researches;
- ensure scientific support for the Institute’s educational process.
The structural units of the Research and Development Center include:
- Research and Development Special Laboratory № 1
- Research and Development Special Laboratory № 2
- Department of Research Administration
In performing its scientific and organisational functions, the Research and Development Center interacts with:
- structural units of the Institute;
- structural units of the Administration of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine;
- institutions and agencies of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine;
- departments of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute;
- with other enterprises, institutions and organisations in the field of cybersecurity and technical information protection, as assigned by the Institute’s administration.
The Research and Development Center performs the following main tasks:
- organising and conducting research on current issues and prospects for the development of education in the field of information technologies and electronics, automation and electronic communications and implementing the results in the educational process;
- organising and conducting scientific and scientific-technical activities aimed at generating new knowledge and developing practical applications through fundamental, applied, and interdisciplinary research — as an integral part of the Institute’s educational activities and a means of integrating research and innovation into the learning process;
- providing scientific-organisational and scientific-technical support for the Institute’s educational, scientific and innovative activities;
- organising the activities of the Institute’s Scientific Society and coordinating the work of research groups;
- organising the training of highly qualified researchers;
- managing the operations of the Research and Development Center;
- participating in economic activities as established by law.
Research and Development Center employs highly qualified professionals: 6 Doctors of Sciences, 1 Doctor of Public Administration, 10 Doctors of Philosophy, including 4 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 2 Senior Research Fellows, 1 Senior Researcher, 1 Academician, 1 Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine.
