Special Department № 5
Special Department № 5 is the degree-granting department of the Institute and provides educational training for specialists in the field of information technology under the specialty F3 Computer Science at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral (PhD) degree levels.
The department employs highly qualified professionals, including 3 Doctors of Sciences and 12 Doctors of Philosophy (PhD).
Professionally oriented disciplines ensure the training of specialists in the field of information technology who are capable of solving complex research and innovative tasks related to the development of computer, information and communication, information management systems and networks for the needs of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine. The training involves the use of technologies of mathematical and computer modeling; modern programming technologies; methods for collecting, analysing and consolidating distributed information; technologies and methods for designing, developing and ensuring the quality of information technology components; data visualisation technologies; knowledge engineering technologies; CASE technologies for modeling and designing IT systems.

The department’s material and technical base includes an educational complex equipped with modern computer laboratories, where students acquire fundamental knowledge in professional and specialised disciplines. The department hosts a local CISCO Networking Academy, which provides students with hands-on experience in configuring and administering network equipment. Additionally, a Cybersecurity Training and Simulation Center has been established to train specialists in the use of cybersecurity software tools.
